UA Local 71 Attends the 41st UA Annual Convention in San Diego

From August 16–21, 2026, 18 delegates from UA Local 71 had the opportunity to attend the 41st UA Annual Convention in San Diego, California.

The convention brought together UA members and leaders from across North America to connect, share ideas, discuss the future of our trades, and strengthen the unity that makes our organization stronger.

Our delegates had the opportunity to take part in important discussions, exchange experiences with fellow members, and bring valuable knowledge and perspectives back to our Local.

We are proud to have been represented by our 18 delegates and grateful for the opportunity to come together as a union, build stronger connections, and continue working toward a stronger future for our members and the skilled trades.

Together, we build. Together, we grow. Together, we are UA.

Celebrating Roland Roy - 58 Years of Service to Local 71

On August 6, 2026, Local 71 had the honour of recognizing Roland Roy and celebrating his remarkable 58 years of dedicated service to our union and its members.

Elected Financial Secretary Treasurer on May 1, 1968, Roland continues to hold this position to this day. Throughout the decades, his leadership, loyalty, and dedication have helped strengthen Local 71 and inspire generations of members.

To honour his legacy and preserve his commitment for future generations, we are proud to officially name our training facility the Roland Roy Training Center .

We extend our sincere thanks to Roland for his outstanding service, leadership, and countless contributions to our union. His legacy will remain an important part of the history of Local 71.

Congratulations, Roland, and thank you for 58 years of service!
